Plus UK tour announced and recording live session for 6 Music's Marc Riley tomorrow
At the end of 2017, Glasgow’s Spinning Coin released their superb debut LP Permo - an album of bold steps and simple gestures, coming from a group who had found, seemingly effortlessly, a confident, unpretentious way of working together.
The band’s two songwriters – Sean Armstrong and Jack Mellin – oscillate taking centre stage and in the process create beautifully rough-hewn guitar pop that takes in frustration, escapism, but also gracefulness and splendour, in equal measure.
Today, Spinning Coin are pleased to share the video for album track ‘Starry Eyes’.
Following shows with Dinosaur Jr, Real Estate, The Charlatans and Girl Ray last year, the band are heading back out on the road for a UK headline tour.
Recorded with Edwyn Collins at his AED Studios, and at Green Door Studio (the recording centre for the new wave of Glasgow artists) with Stu Evans, Permo was released via Geographic, The Pastels’ Domino imprint.
Permo is available to buy on limited-edition green coloured vinyl, standard vinyl, CD – all of which come with a booklet - and digital.
Spinning Coin are Sean Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Jack Mellin (vocals,
guitar), Rachel Taylor (bass, vocals, keyboards) and Chris White (drums).
